Biography

David Michaeli is a bassist, composer, and producer.

Recognized as one of the most sought-after bass players in the contemporary music scene, Michaeli’s musical foundation is rooted in jazz tradition. Over the years, he expanded his horizons through deep studies of Indian and Middle Eastern music, while being profoundly shaped by the rhythms of West African music. This rich tapestry of influences defines his signature sound—grooves that are deeply rooted and danceable, paired with a soft, elegant, and melodic sensitivity.

Following years of extensive collaborations as a side-man, Michaeli now leads his own ensemble, bringing his original compositions to the forefront.

His debut album, Between Hope and Despair, is scheduled for release in February 2027.

Alongside his work on his project, Michaeli works with SHALOSH, Halev Trio, Sharon Mansur Trio, Abate Berihun’s ‘Addis Ken’, and more.
